Safety is everyone's business!

As of March 2000 the UL 325  new standards took effect.

All gate operator manufacturers as of that date were to be in compliance. Each local governing agency may reject or not approve your addition if the products you intend on having installed are not UL or ETL listed to the current UL325 standard.

How will the new standard effect you?

Gate operators must be UL 325 compliant

Primary and secondary safety must be installed

Warning signs must be attached to the entry

The U.L. 325 was created for entry safety! There are 4 classes of gate locations and provisions that must be met for each of them.
All mechanized gates are intended for vehicle traffic only!
If pedestrian traffic is expected a separate walk thru gate must be in place!

Class 1: Residential This is a gate operator intended for use at a home. A home is defined as one to four single family dwelling, or garage or parking area associate therewith.

Class 2: Commercial or General Public Access A gate operator intended for use in a commercial location. Commercial locations include: gated communities, hotels, garages, retail stores, or any other buildings that service the general public.

Class 3: Industrial or Limited Access A gate operator intended for use in an industrial location. Industrial locations include; factories, loading dock areas, or other locations not intended to service the general public.

Class 4: Restricted Access A gate operator intended for use in a guarded industrial location. Guarded industrial locations include: Airport security areas, or other restricted access locations not servicing the general public, in which unauthorized access is prevented via supervision by security personnel.

At West Georgia Gate & Door we strive for safety at all locations.  Give us a call to discuss what types of entrapment and emergency products will best provide safety at your location.
